Barring any last-minute change, the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, governors and past governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senators of the APC and all other APC stakeholders from the North Central will on Saturday meet in Lafia Nassarawa State to discuss the crisis in the party as relate to the zone.
Among the people to be at the meeting according to the source are the governor of Kwara State, his counterparts in Kogi, Benue, Nassarawa and Niger States.
Also, former governors from the zone, serving lawmakers of the National Assembly and past would be in attendance at the meeting, the source said.
The meeting, according to the party source would discuss the crisis in the ruling All Progressives Congress as it affects the zone.
Since the National Chairman of the ruling party was taken away from the zone last year, the North Central has felt shortchanged in the party.
Before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took over as President last year, the position of APC National Chairman was zoned to North Central and was occupied by the former governor of Nassarawa State, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
However, Tinubu, last year ceded the position of the APC National Chairman to Kano State, North West. The rezoning has been a source of problems in the party.
A party source said the stakeholders from the North Central would meet in Lafia today to discuss the position to present to the President on the issue of the National Chairman of APC.
New Telegraph reports that the governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatai Abdulrazak will chair the meeting
It would be recalled that some party members were at the APC National Secretariat on Thursday to protest against the leadership of Abdullahi Ganduje as the APC National Chairman.
The protesters were chased away by Ganduje and APC security men.
Speaking, the party source said the meeting would determine the fate of the party in the next few weeks to come.
“As you know, the President had kept quiet for some time on the crisis of the party.
“He is waiting to get reports from the zones on the states of the party before making decisions. And the North Central would present the resolution of their meeting to him.”
