The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has described the intervention of the Federal security agencies in the ongoing Kano Emirate stool as a ‘show of shame’.
The party in a statement issued on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Ladipo Johnson stated that the action fits into the grand design of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to snatch the state at all costs.
“The ongoing siege on Kano State, especially, the Palace of the Emir of Kano by soldiers and other security agents is nothing but a show of shame and a threat to the democracy which some Nigerians shed their blood to enthrone,” the party stated.
Johnson on behalf of the party stated that the decision of the Federal Government to deploy security personnel to the state to aid the return of the deposed Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero is a threat to national security and democracy itself.
“The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) therefore faulted the alleged forceful return of the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, to Kano through the might of the Federal Government. This was a threat to peace and harmony in the state,” the party stated.
According to the party, the governor, Engr Kabir Yusuf acted legally by removing the former Emir and reinstating the former holder, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II.
“The Kano State Legislature vested with the powers to repeal, amend or enact laws having duly followed established principles repealed the Kano Emirate Law (2019), which removed the 14th Emir of Kano, HRM Mohammed Sanusi 11, and restored him back to office,” the statement reads.
