The Federal Government on Friday announced that Ogun State will soon join the oil producing states in Nigeria.
This was confirmed when a high-powered Federal Government delegation led by the Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil) Heineken Lokpobiri to the Governor of the State, Dapo Abiodun to update him on the oil exploration.
Lokpobiri said the Federal Government will soon begin exploration on a different basis.
He assured the governor that the state has a high potential for crude oil discoveries.
Lokpobiri said: “The federal government is committed to using the resources for development as part of the position of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).”
Governor Abiodun commended President Bola Tinubu for creating an environment that is enabling businesses to thrive and for the state to achieve its long-sought-after desire of being an oil-producing state.
He said: “The oil basis presents a unique opportunity for the qualification as a frontier exploration state as defined in the PIA. I want to thank deeply and appreciate Mr President, President Bola Tinubu, for creating this enabling environment for us in Ogun State to achieve this long sought-after desire and hope of us for many years.”
