The Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Tuesday said that it has evolved new strategies with a view to dislodging the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections to return to power.
The National Vice Chairman of the party, representing North Central, Mr Abubakar Dogara, disclosed this during a North Central revitalization visit to the Benue State chapter of the party in Makurdi.
Addressing the state-expanded executive committee of the party at its newly acquired secretariat, Hon. Dogara, who was accompanied by the Assistant Secretary, Hon Sunday Embu, said the party was receiving new members who were bringing hope of future victories.
He called on the members to remain resolute and committed to the rebuilding process and be ready to accommodate new entrants for the future glory of the party.
Dogara acknowledged the resilience of the state chairman, Mr Itodo Idoko and the members in rekindling people’s faith in the party, especially during the 2023 elections, stressing that the national leadership was open to suggestions and advice that will move the party forward.
“You must remain committed to the party as you have shown before in the 2023 elections.
“We are in Benue as the last state to visit on our tour. We are here to encourage you to continue to do what you have been doing. We are here to seek your advice on how to move our party forward.
“I believe in the next elections, SDP is going to take over Nigeria”, he said.
In a remark, the State Chairman, Hon. Engr Itodo Idoko assured that the SDP in the state was going to work on the terms and conditions and the processes that will usher in victory for the SDP.
“There is no zonal vice chairman in the whole of Nigeria that has worked effectively as our North Central Zonal Vice Chairman.
“North Central has actually set the pace for Nigeria and we pray that other zones will follow and Nigeria will recognize that SDP is not just a party but the party to reckon with”, Hon Idoko said.
Hon. Idoko further stated that the party was fully prepared to participate in the forthcoming local government elections with the view to winning a majority of the seats.
SDP Zone ‘B’ chairman, Mr Sylvester Gbatse and his Zone ‘A’ counterpart, Doo Nyichia both expressed appreciation to the National executive’s officials for their move to bring back hope and faith of the party members assuring that they would remain committed in their efforts towards returning to power.
