Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke on Friday said he has surpassed the entire record of 12 years of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in pension payments with Twelve billion and seven billion Naira plus within one and half years as against eleven billion and one hundred million naira plus the entire twelve years of the APC government.
Governor Adeleke made this disclosure amid cheering responses from senior citizens as the state government once again released another four billion naira bond for retirees at state and local levels.
He said: “For my administration, the amount of bonds released from December 2022 to date across State and LGAs is Twelve Billion, Seven Hundred and Nineteen Million, Two Hundred and Forty-Five Naira (N12, 719,245,528,00).
“I invite us all to note that the administration of my two predecessors for 12 years paid Eleven billion, One Hundred and Fifty-Five Million, Six Hundred and Fifty One Thousand, Seven Hundred and Eight Hundred Naira (N11,155,651,780.56) for gratuities at the State level.
Speaking, the Head of Service, Elder Samuel Ayanleye Aina restated that Governor Adeleke’s records of pension disbursement within the space of one and half years surpassed the six years of administration of APC in the state.
Aina who commended the governor over his commitment to the welfare of the people of the state said Adeleke has not derailed in his bid to always put smiles in the faces of the people.
“Mr Governor am not surprised that this kind of ceremony is taking place today going by your overwhelming commitment to the welfare of our senior citizens.
“This is in line with the tenet of the five action plans of the administration in Osun State which makes the welfare of the workers and retirees the number one.
“Your Excellency, our records have shown that the bond certificate you have released in one and half years including those that are done today has surpassed those in the six years. One and half years more than those of six years altogether”.
Representatives of the pensioners, Gbenga Oyadare and Toyin Ayinde both commended Governor Adeleke, declaring that “ there is no vacancy in Abere come 2026”
Amidst singing and praises, pensioners applauded the commitment of Governor Adeleke to paying off the pensions and half salaries, calling the Governor a “talk and do” leader.
