The operatives of the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have taken into custody three individuals for alleged naira mutilation and misuse.
Saturday Telegraph reports that the suspects are Stanley Ogbolu, 35, Odiaka Sorwu, 42, and Kelvin Anyakwu, 42.
The culprits were apprehended during a burial ceremony in Asaba, Delta State, after reportedly spraying naira notes on a celebrant.
The anti-graft agency stated that the arrest was made based on credible intelligence about the accused’ involvement in naira abuse.
The EFCC stated that the accused will be charged in court as soon as the investigations are complete.
