Speaking on the development, the anti-graft agency said the suspects were detained during the sting operation carried out in the early hours of Saturday.
The commission noted that the operation was primarily intended to capture the suspects after receiving information.
Sunday Telegraph earlier reported that; a groom to be and his friends were arrested during the raid.
According to the agency’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the alleged fraudsters hosted a party called the “Yahoo Party.”
Oyedele, who denied that several soldiers were harmed during the operation, insisted that those apprehended were in the agency’s custody in Ibadan and being profiled.
He said: “The alleged internet fraudsters were arrested in an early morning sting operation at a “Yahoo Party” held simultaneously at Signature and Abah Clubs on Saturday, June 8, 2024, in Akure, Ondo State.
“They were supposed to hold the party on Wednesday, and when they found out that we knew about it, they moved it to Saturday.
“The arrest was a result of diligent operation, and we had followed them carefully before we eventually went for the arrest. They will be charged in court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
