The Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has announced that it will ensure the immediate implementation of Nigerian gas transportation network code.
The regulatory framework is designed to ensure safe, reliable, economically and viable access to natural gas across Nigeria.
The Chief Executive Officer, NMDPRA, Farouk Ahmed, on Friday stated that the network code will provide a set of unified rules which will guarantee non-discriminatory access to the gas pipeline system.
He explained that this is to enable the delivery of commercial volumes of natural gas from upstream producers and also suppliers to downstream customers including power generation companies and industry.
It would be noted that the development appears auspicious ahead of the completion of major pipeline projects like the Excravos-Lagos system and the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kado pipeline.
