In readiness for challenges that may arise as a result of the proposed nationwide protest, the Lagos State Government has released a five point agenda for healthcare services delivery in the state.
According to a viral notice circulated on different cadres of health workers’ WhatsApp platforms on Tuesday, the emergency move is a part of measures devised by the state’s Ministry of Health to ensure itch-free hospital management and operations throughout the period.
Titled: ‘Contingency Plan for Hospital During The Proposed Protest As Directed By The Commissioner”, and posted on the social media platforms by Heads of Departments across Lagos-owned health facilities, the notice stated that public hospitals are expected to remain fully operational to serve the public during the proposed protest.
It read: “Doctors, Nurses, and other clinical and essential staff should plan to stay overnight at the hospital premises on Wednesday, July 31st.
“This, the statement said “is to ensure continuous service for patients, including those in emergency care, outpatient clinics, wards, and scheduled surgeries.
“Hospital management should provide meals and refreshments for all staff staying overnight: Dinner on Wednesday, July 31st Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner on Thursday, August 1st
“A contingency plan has been arranged with local law enforcement to provide additional security and protection for lives and properties during this period.
“A contingency plan involving local community leaders and stakeholders has been put in place to ensure the safety, security and protection of their community hospital.
“Additional contingency plans are in place to ensure the availability of necessary consumables and supplies.
