Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on Thursday, flagged-off the reconstruction of 5 township roads in Kumo aimed at improving access and connectivity within the town.
Speaking during the flagg-off ceremony, the Governor in a statement issued by his Director-General of Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli said the project include the reconstruction of four existing roads and the creation of a new one namely: Tashan Magarya to Market, Jibilu to Kembu road, Kambariki to Jaurori, Market roundabout to Kembu road, and newly awarded road at anguwan Tera to Tembe.
Governor Inuwa said the projects are parts of his administration’s broader agenda to upgrade urban infrastructure across the state, infrastructure through the Network 11-100 initiative, particularly in key towns like Kumo.
He appealed to residents to take ownership of the projects, noting that the roads will be complemented by additional infrastructure such as street lighting, water pipeline, among others.
“I am delighted to flag-off the reconstruction of four township roads and construction of a new one to improve connectivity within Kumo. These roads have been neglected for years.
“I believe with these projects being executed, we work to transform Kumo. This project is not just about paving roads; it’s about paving the way for progress and prosperity for our people”, the Governor explained.
“We have already made significant strides in the development and progress of this town and Akko Local Government Area in general and we are committed to doing even more in the years ahead”, the governor assured.
In another development, Governor Inuwa Yahaya inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the Akko Local Government Secretariat in Kumo.
The Governor who was guided through the project site by the Director General of the Joint Project Development Agency, Bldr. Mahmood Yusuf Ph.D, expressed satisfaction with the quality and progress of the work, reiterating that the reconstruction of the secretariat is expected to enhance the administrative capacity of the local government.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya also paid homage to the Emir of Akko at his palace where he engaged with community leaders on the needs and aspirations of the people of Akko.
He used the medium to appeal to them for continued support for his administration’s policies and programmes aimed at improving the well being of the people of Gombe state.
In their separate remarks, the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, Speaker of Gombe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, the Chairman of Akko LGA, Hon. Mohammed Danladi Adamu, the Emir of Akko, HRH Alhaji Umar Muhammed Atiku, as well as other stakeholders from Akko, all expressed appreciation to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his administration’s ongoing development efforts in the area, highlighting the importance of these projects in improving the quality of life of the people.
They assured of the continued support of the people of Akko local government in ensuring that his efforts to implement policies that will improve infrastructure, education, and healthcare are achieved, and Gombe under his leadership continues to remain a reference point for good governance and progress.
