Standup for Women Society (SWS) has demanded immediate justice for the female lawyer, Omobolanle Raheem, killed recently by a policeman in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
The group’s National President, Deborah Ijadele-Adetona, in a statement issued by the National Public Relations Officer, Billie Nwogu, appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba, to ensure the killer cop is appropriately sanctioned and family of the deceased adequately compensated.
She, therefore, urged President Muhammadu Buhari and security chiefs to prioritise training and education of officers on gun handling in the face of these disturbing accidental discharges and impunity by people, who are paid with taxpayer’s money to protect life and property.
“The young woman, who was pregnant, met her untimely death due to the nonchalant attitude of a police officer whose primary assignment is to make sure people are protected. What is happening to our nation?” Ijadele-Adetona queried.
