Factional Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday, urged Nigerians to vote for competence and capacity in this year’s general elections, saying that voting against Atiku is voting against continuation of the Northern presidency beyond 2023.
In a New Year statement, in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, factional Secretary General of the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, noted that the North has realised that its political leaders are hypocritical to ending the banditry and terrorism in the region, insisting that it’s only a Southern president that can end insecurity in the North, not the PDP presidential candidate.
While urging Nigerians to Vote for competence and capacity in this year’s presidential election, he added that Nigerians should vote against transition from one Fulani to another Fulani presidency.
He also pleaded with the unknown gunmen to end hostilities in the region. He added that the introduction of violent agitation and the killing spree of killer herdsmen are twin lapses that Igbo must end through self-support.
He maintained that Ndigbo have lost billions of naira as a result of sit-at-home order, stressing that this is detrimental to the collective existence of Ndigbo.
He said: “Ndigbo should know that they have to defend themselves through self-help to end the madness of herdsmen and unknown gunmen terrorising the people of the region.
“It’s obvious that criminals had hijacked Biafra agitation.
“It’s time to go after criminals and their sponsors to end insecurity challenges in the region.
“South East governors must wake up to their responsibility of protecting life and property. We also call on Federal Government to initiate plans for the arrest of Simon Ekpa.”
