Leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have started arriving the Nigerian capital, Abuja for the party’s leadership retreat and National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
The three day event which began with arrivals on Sunday, is part of efforts by the leaders to “deepen democracy and build a frontline political party in the country.”
A former Presidential hopeful of ADC who doubles and a member of its Board of Trustees (BoT), Chukwuka Monye, said the retreat would focus on the needs and expectations of the Nigerian electorate.
Dr. Monye who also doubles as the Lead Consultant for the retreat, is Wall Street Journal and Amazon Best selling author and social innovator.

The retreat, with the theme: “What Nigerian Voters Want – A Strategic Public Engagement,” will be a follow up to the one held in Kaduna, two weeks ago.
According to Dr. Monye, “The retreat will address four key areas ranging from party discipline and governance; digital organisation and mobilisation; improving the quality of party leadership and candidates to addressing voter apathy,” and that ” a break out group session will deliberate on the key outcomes from the panel session, which will be followed by a synthesization of the recommendations from the break out groups to better equip the party leadership for strategic repositioning.
“The panelists represent Nigerians across geo-political &socioeconomic backgrounds,” he further explained.
The release further stated that the retreat will will be followed by the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party on Tuesday.
The party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmad, will declare the retreat open while papers are expected to be delivered by seasoned academics grounded in political Party administration and voter education.
According to the ADC, the retreat is part of a series of programmes designed to strengthen the party to position it as the party of first choice for Nigerians desirous of a positive change going forward.
