A 43-year-old man identified as Raymond Mukaila has been dragged before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on the charges of stealing N999,500 worth of cash and property.
However, New Telegraph reports that the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges read against him.
ASP Christian Okonofua, the prosecution counsel, informed the court that the defendant had committed the crime at Agbalumo, Oreyo in the Igbogbo neighbourhood of Ikorodu between February and March.
According to Okonofua, the defendant took an aluminium window worth N210,000 and an aluminium frame worth N286,000.
The remaining items include an iron pole pillar at N22,000, three pieces of flue master valued at N16, 000, and three seat covers valued at N10, 500.
Furthermore, the defendant also stole N455,000 in cash from the complainant, Alhaja Kafilat Adebayo.
The prosecutor claimed that the offence violated Section 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.
The defendant was granted bail by Magistrate O.A. Onalaja in the amount of N200,000, accompanied by two sureties in the same amount.
The case was therefore adjourned till July 11 for mention.
