The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned its members against engaging in blame game over outcome of the 2023 general elections.
At an expanded meeting of the party’s leaders with the National Working Committee (NWC), the main opposition political grouping expressed optimism that it would win all pending cases in court.
The Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, confirmed that the leadership had met with stakeholders to resolve the lingering crisis, adding that yesterday’s meeting was part of the reconciliation move.
Asked to inform members about the meeting’s agenda, National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, said: “It is the first meeting after the general elections. We carefully and deliberately called for this meeting to, in a way, douse the pressure or tension within the party in the aftermath of the 2023 elections.”
On the need to avoid blame game, he said: “We are here today (yesterday) and everyone knows what happened at the 2023 elections. We contributed both individually and collectively. If you rise to speak, I beg you to spell out your own role in the 2023 elections, either positive or negative, before you jump to accuse someone else either negative or positive.”
Although he was invited, former Vice President and party’s candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, was absent.
Also absent were members of the G-5 group of governors, spearheaded by former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike.
